Sick Day

Aj's home from school.

He threw up twice this morning.

It's not even 10 and I'm ready to tear my hair out.

He's bored.

He read an entire Shel Silverstein book, drew 10 pictures and took a bath.

I let him take a bath in my tub. He decided to play "tidal wave" in it.

I should've built an ark and sailed away before the great flood hit.

His best defense (and one I couldn't argue with because he was right), "But mom, it was FUN!"

5 beach towels later...

I'mnotmad.I'mnotmad.I'mnotmad.I'mnotmad.I'mnotmad.

I have this rule in order to discourage playing hooky or faking sick -

No tv or video games. If you're too sick to go to school, you need to stay in your bed and rest.

I hate my rules.

They many have to change... very soon.

  1. "I hate my rules".

    HA!! I love that.

And when I saw you at the library and said I missed seeing you every week at school, I totally meant it. Maybe we could girls night or lunch or something?

  2. I was able to avoid that. I sent my son to school even though he wasn't feeling well. No fever or throwing up so I told him to at least try to make it through to the first recess. He never came to find me and he hasn't said anything now that he is home for the day. We have those rules too but it's hard to keep them sometime. I am much more lenient when their is "proof" of sickness. Just keep repeating your mantra "I'm not mad."
